In 1995, the secretary of the municipal party committee of tianjin gave instructions to "make tianjin green in the day and bright in the night", which led to the rapid development of lighting construction.

From 2000 to 2006 is the preliminary development period. During this period, the construction of urban lighting projects is generally carried out, and more investment is made in landscape lighting in various places, so as to promote the development and growth of a number of enterprises and lighting construction teams producing and supplying lighting equipment outside the city. Many cities have started to formulate lighting plans and regulations, among which high pressure sodium lamp, floodlight lighting are the main lamps, energy consumption is high, light pollution is serious.

Since 2007, it has been a period of rapid development. At this time, LED technology has made a breakthrough and the industry has entered the era of LED lighting. Energy conservation, environmental protection and other issues have received increasing attention, and light pollution has been continuously controlled. With the Beijing Olympics, Shanghai world expo, guangzhou Asian games and other events as important opportunities, China's large, medium and small cities continue to develop landscape lighting. In 2010, the ministry of housing and urban-rural development issued the "regulations on urban lighting management" for urban lighting management, which has become a milestone in the legalization of China's urban lighting management.
